	Dear Nikki, Thank you! What a treat. No high brow crit from me. What I read I really enjoyed. No blood and gore, and that makes a nice change. 	So far, this has been an excellent read. I found Nikki's straight-forward storytelling to be very enjoyable and reminiscent of the classics on which I grew up. I can't wait to read the whole thing!

	I found the first chapter very well layed out and a joy to read. This story draws you into it like the rat hole at the end of this first chapter, I will be down loading the rest of this book to find out what happens to the kids. I like the way you told the kids story up front, Lots of books make you wait to find out about the players and I think this hurts other stories but not this one, Good Job!!! I can't wait to read the rest of the story! I give this one two thumbs up so far and I'm sure the rest will be just as fun to read. 	Lovely first chapter. I get the, I-was-here-and-now-I'm-there common begging to the best fantasy epics out there. Like my favorite author Gorden R. Dickson (Peter Dickinson) Dragon Knights series (includes animated movie). [Dare I mention Narnia too] It reminded me greatly of The Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke, which is awesome enough story for a live movie. So I am sure this book will be too. 	Very well written first chapter! I like how the characters are very distinct from one another, yet similar enough for it to be believable that they would be hanging out together. We get a brief background on each one, which gives us an idea about how their respective pasts have shaped their personalities, and an overview of the unique personal challenges that each one faces. It makes them personable and believable. I also like how the language is not overly haughty, but it is also not dumbed down. A very engaging and readable story so far with a bit of mystery. A couple critiques. I would like to see a more detailed description of how the shop is laid out, including where everything is in relation to everything else. I think it would make the story more realistic, as I'm having trouble picturing how the store looks. Also, a bit more specific physical description of the characters would be nice, including more about their appearances and how they carry themselves (I'm guessing we might get a little bit more of this in the next chapters though). I'd like to know more about Petey, especially since I suspect that he won't be in the rest of the book as much as the four children are. Oh, and an inconsistency I noticed: on the top of page eight Maggie sticks her gum to the underside of the counter, but then on the bottom of page eight it's implied that the gum is still in her mouth, and on page ten we are informed that the gum has fallen out of her mouth. Did she stick the gum to the counter or was it in her mouth when Mickey started dancing? Overall very good story, we already have some character development and a little twist of mystery! Julie

	The next Harry Potter... Nikki is a fantastic writer with an addictive voice. Her words slip you into the story and you cannot wait for the next page. This book is sure to keep the young adults reading. I am eagerly awaiting the rest of the book!
