 Sword of Fyer
By: AC Gaughen
Sword of Fyre is the story of Gabryela, a girl who, when abandoned by her father, must uncover the truth of his disappearance and face down the fire within her. Gabryela is the daughter of the local blacksmith in the small town of Paelin. One night, her father leaves with the promise to return, but no sooner has he left before Gabby's house burns down and she finds herself hunted. She searches for her father, her every move forced by the people relentlessly searching for her. Her view of the world moves from simple to complicated and confusing; her best friend is a thief who stands to die for his crimes, she is beginning to start fires when her emotions get the best of her, and she struggles to define the line between defending herself and harming others. Armed only with her father's final gift to her, a sword he crafted that has strange power all on it's own, Gabby discovers a world of Ancient, immortal beings alongside the human world, a war that will define the fate of both worlds, and two kings that could hold her life in the balance. She learns her father wasn't the man she thought he was and with that knowledge comes massive burdens for her shoulders.

Great story idea and a good hook. The author does a great job of bringing Gabryela to life, though I would like to know more about her father and the setting.
