A Riki Storm Vampire Mystery
By: Sharon Kilzer
Dark Jewel (A Riki Storm Vampire Mystery) follows a classic mystery/suspense plotline, with the added twist of vampires as villains. The book is fast moving and funny, staying with Riki as she finds herself in a series of dark basements full of dead bodies, some of which are neither human nor dead. Set in the San Francisco Bay Area, and including a zany list of supporting characters, this book is a fun romp through the dark side.

The frenetic pace helps this story along. You've characterised it well and the settings are exellently described. My one critcism is the conversation. Virtually every line finishes with 'she said', 'he mumbled' or somesuch and there is often no need - the reader can imagine the tone of speech because the narrative is well-written enough. Judging from the first chapters this book should do very well. Good luck.

Nice! I particularly liked the line 'He didn't have to be mean for you to know he could kill you'. That was a poem, right there. Also the modern dance number description was brilliance. *applause*
