Clare Tanner, Managing Director

The idea of solving what Clare saw as “the broken model of traditional publishing” came about after she heard Stefan give a seminar on the way the web was going forward. She had seen the time and effort devoted to getting a book through the various stages of writing and editing, to the lengthy business of publishing, and then marvelled at the marketing machine that didn’t seem to connect a book with readers. She witnessed the anguish that was created by rejection slips and decided that the way technology was heading, previous barriers to getting discovered shouldn’t exist. So she did something about it, and teamed up with Stefan to create Bookhabit.com.

After living and working overseas for 7 years Clare has now returned home to Wellington, New Zealand. Clare set up a telecommunications company which was sold in 2007 and now gets to indulge in her passion for books, rather than talking.

As an avid reader, Clare find the books being posted on Bookhabit.com a delightful distraction that keeps her away from all of the many tasks running Bookhabit.com involves. It’s a habit that will need some reining in if she is ever to get her own book written!

Stefan Korn, eCommerce Director

Stefan describes himself as one of New Zealand's "e-vangelists". He is very passionate about e-Commerce and Web 2.0. As someone who was contacted by a publisher as a result of starting a popular blog, he believes that the next JK Rowling could be discovered on a site like Bookhabit.com. Stefan has a PhD in Artificial Intelligence and an MBA in International Business. After "doing the corporate thing" for companies like HP, Oracle and InterContinental Hotels Group he came to NZ in 2004 and has since started a number of successful businesses. His website production company WebFund has helped develop and market many successful web ventures such as Celsias.com, Mintshot.co.nz and DIYFather.com. Stefan is also a partner at Sí Spanish Language Institute. He is actively engaged in community projects and enjoys tutoring at Wellington Community Education.
